When evaluating a child for ADHD, I start by providing parents with clear, understandable information about ADHD. If, based on this information, an evaluation seems appropriate, I integrate relevant developmental history with feedback and assessment data from parents, teachers, and often the child him/herself. I will also observe the child (typically at school). After my assessment process is complete, I meet with parents to share my findings and discuss next steps and treatment options.
